This past week has been a whirlwind. I haven’t had the energy or the conviction to go all out and treat myself. I still did manage to find a few ways to make the day a little better though and I’ll share those! Doesn’t that picture just make your mouth water? I love sushi and use to eat it about twice a week when I lived in Brighton. These days it is a rare occasion when I eat it, the boyfriend doesn’t really like it and it is a little bit of a drive to get to (we are talking 30 min round trip so not horrible) so it has become a once every few months deal. Last week I was at Whole Foods for lunch and this roll just screamed to me. I gobbled it up in no time, only pausing to enjoy the flavor briefly.
Wednesday I had a date night with my girlfriends. Yes, that sure was a treat too but I kept the camera in my bag the whole time since I have already reviewed the restaurant. The treat I gave myself before was leaving work early and walking around the Boston Common. I needed to clear my head and just be alone yet around people and this was the perfect place to do it. I watched families set up picnics, dad’s chasing their kids while they are still in their suits, couples kiss on benches, people playing softball…and so on. It was a great way to blow an hour and I’m happy I took the time to do it.
I took the time last week and studied for the Cicerone Certified Beer Server exam. This hopefully will allow me to move positions into something more interesting within my company. The exam is all about beer, styles, types, tastes, alcohol content, color, how to handle it so on and so on. Guys, I’m not trying to be dramatic but this thing was hard! You have 30 minutes to get 45 out of the 60 questions correct. With the purchase of the test you get two attempts, luckily I was able to get 45 exactly on the first one and become certified. I was pretty proud of myself, even if it doesn’t pan out with this job it will still be great to have on my resume.
Make your own frozen yogurt. The boyfriend and I discovered this last week and have been back twice now. I’m sure you have seen them, a whole wall of frozen yogurt flavors and you fill up your cup with as much as you want. Then two bars of toppings where again you put on as much as you want and they charge you by ounce. Unlike some places they let you put it on yourself so you don’t have to feel bad when you keep saying “more” to the attendant. This was a little indulgent, I will probably get vanilla next time as the toppings and ice cream gave me a sweet headache. I love this place though and will be heading back soon!
