Good morning! If you have been reading along then you know that a week ago I started the Advocare 24 day challenge. So far so good and in my opinion this is a pretty easy challenge all things considered. I’ll start out with the lows and then highs and then I’ll detail the week worth of dinners I have had.
The lows have been pretty few and far between. The first thing I dislike is the fiber shake, I cannot tell you how disgusting this thing is. I’m huge on mouth feel and this shake couldn’t be more viscous. I also cannot stand the shakes taste, it is a mixture between chicken broth and orange juice and seriously makes me want to vomit. I only have two more to drink though and then I’m all done with that stage.
The next part is the no coffee or tea. I really miss my morning cups and would love something hot to drink, especially since it is like zero degrees out right now. My headaches were horrible coming off the coffee but the Spark product seems to make up for it.
No cheese. This is killing me, I love dairy and love cheese but for 24 days this is a no no. The no alcohol isn’t as bad but going out sucks. I went to the bar with my friends last Friday and was drinking seltzer water. It was miserable, not because I couldn’t drink but all the questions and weird looks I got. I swear a few friends probably think I’m pregnant too (I’m not!!) I found if people are drinking and you aren’t they don’t like it!
Warning TMI… The pooping! Oh my gosh no one talks about this but for the first three days I didn’t go. Then on day 4 you start a probiotic and man oh man do you start going. I was on the treadmill last night and flew off to run to the bathroom. When you gotta go you really gotta go!
The highs are my side roll is almost gone! I feel healthy and good about what I’m doing for my body. There is a huge support group of people that are doing this with me and it is awesome to be able to bounce ideas off them and get recipes or meal ideas. I feel like I joined a huge sorority or something.
The last great thing is the weight loss. In one week I’m back to where I was pre vacation with a loss of almost 6 pounds. I know you aren’t suppose to weigh yourself until the end but I have a hard time with that.
No onto what I’m eating:
Dinner on night one was steamed carrots, salmon and a small scoop of couscous. I try to stay carb free at night but my head was killing and making my stomach hurt so this helped.
Night two was grilled chicken breast with broccoli and cauliflower mash. This was one of my favorites and will be having this again soon.
Night three was date night so we went to Legal Seafood so I could eat most of the menu. We started with oysters on the half shell which were awesome.
Then I had scallops with squash and farro. This was my first introduction to farro and I’m addicted. I have eaten it almost every day since as one of my carbs.
Desserts have been banana ice cream. So indulgent but it really is only a frozen banana with some water!
Sunday dinner was pork tenderloin with leftover vegetables. It turned out great and gosh do I love cauliflower mash!
Monday night was shrimp and broccoli. This was fabulous and the boyfriend even inhaled it. I’ll link the picture to the recipe tomorrow for you all.
Tuesday was my buffalo chicken quesadilla for the boyfriend and just the buffalo chicken for me. Holy spicy when you don’t have a dairy to cool it down.
Last dinner was last night, steak with asparagus and some leftover tomatoes. I’m not a huge fan of steak right now but needed the iron so I had it. One of my least favorite protiens in my dinner though. I loved the asparagus.
So there you have it. Week two starts now and I’ll be on the max phase next update. I can’t wait to see the end results of all this!
