Weekend Recap

Well hello there! Happy Memorial Day to you! A very quick thank you to all the veterans both here and no longer with us that have severed to protect our country and our freedoms.

What a dreary and cold Memorial Day that was, half the time I was soaking wet and freezing and the other half I was looking for the sun. Much better than what my family up in VT and NH had to deal with, this is a picture from my brother who tried to go hiking with his girlfriend on Sunday.

Thank goodness the sun finally came out today or I would have felt very cheated on my long weekend. I’m glad I didn’t make plans to go down to the Cape or one of the Islands though, that would have really bummed me out.

So let’s start where we left off, Thursday, which was another crazy day. We had three states to work through and managed to get them all done before the VP had to leave at 4:30. I again started off my morning with a smoothie, just to pump some fruits into me and start the day healthy. This one is VERY easy to make.

Mango Banana Smoothie
Serves 1
  • 1 Cup of Frozen Mango
  • 1 Banana
  • 1/4 Cup of Banilla Yogurt
Blend them all together and enjoy. This concoction is super creamy as both the banana and the mango have that creamy butter texture. It almost felt like I was eating dessert for breakfast.
By the time I got home I was in zero mood to cook, I was really starting to get burned out, so I ordered sushi from a new place. Although it was good, it wasn’t fantastic like Blue Fuji was, I think I have been ruined after trying that.
Friday morning I went to Starbucks as a reward and got a Venti Iced Hazelnut Latte. It was so fantastic, but not the best idea when I had to be in a conference room all day because around 11:30 I had to go the bathroom so bad I had to run out. For lunch we got sandwiches ordered in, and both the VP and I got Tuna wraps. Mine had pickles and lettuce on it while his was just plain. I went to grab mine and looked and he was eating it. I was really bummed until I tried his and realized I like them plain a lot better, so that was a good mistake.
I was in a rewarding mood on Friday because when I got home after a little Tucker Time…
I ordered some Indian Food. I absolutely adore Indian food and could eat it almost every day. Sadly I don’t like any of the healthy fruit and vegetable dishes so I would probably be as large as the Taj Mahal. This order I got Chicken Tikka Masala, Vegetable Samosa, and Cheese Naan. I made myself count all the points and not go back for seconds, although I could have eaten another large plate like this.
While I was eating dinner I was also watching Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2, so it was really a reward night. Yes I know, totally lame that I spent my Friday night alone eating takeout and watching vampire movies, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way after that week I went through.
Saturday I woke up to a dark and dreary day
I went down and got my haircut and then went to the gym. I realized that when I don’t get my hair blown dry I save $50, so from now on I’ll just leave with it wet. It isn’t like I’ll ever be able to style it the way he does anyway. At the gym I did the workout I did here, only instead of doing the 10 minutes walking I ran it. So by the end of the workout I had run 4 miles and done 25 minutes of strength training. I was drenched in sweat!
The Bruins were playing at 5:30, so I went on over to my friends house where we ordered pizza from Pizzeria Regina’s and I also got a house salad like I got here. The pizza was fantastic! It had eggplant, red onions, ricotta cheese and basil on it. I was only able to eat two large pieces but my friend let me take the rest home.
Which I then ate for breakfast the next day!
After that I went for a run, and didn’t have a good one at all. I don’t know if I was tired from the day before or from the week or if I just wasn’t mentally prepared to run that day because I walked twice. Pay no attention to my pace because when I walked for .25 miles and then Heartbreak Hill I paused it. Cheating I know.

Later on that evening I met up with Erin and Kelli the two ladies from here, and we went out to dinner at Jerry Remy’s. It was fantastic and so good to hang out with girls. We started off with drinks, I got the champagne one to start, but after a taste of my friends martini I switched on my second drink.
We then ordered some spinach and artichoke dip to start which was phenomenal, I could have eaten it with a spoon!
For my dinner since I had zero vegetables that day I ordered a Mango Steak salad. I have a thing about not eating fruit in anything besides smoothies and raw, but I was trying to break out of that. Next time I will ask them to hold the Mango though! Still don’t like fruit in with savory items. Kelli impressed us by ordering and eating the “Rem Dawg”
After dinner Erin and I went back to her apartment and watched Clueless and White Chicks, which was a perfect way to end the weekend! Walking back to my car I tried to snap a picture of the moon, it was so huge and so beautiful! (Monday to come tomorrow)
I hope everyone else had a great long weekend and was able to get a little sunshine!
What did you do this memorial day weekend?
