Holy cow yesterday was busy! I woke up to a few text messages and couldn’t fall back asleep, but I guess that is fine since it was almost 10:00. I then threw on some old clothes and went outside to put a second coat of stain on the Adirondack chair that I promised my boyfriend I would do, only fair since he did one whole chair and then the first coat of the second chair. I wasn’t able to do it all week since it was gross and raining so I took the opportunity while the weather was nice.
I had made plans to go hiking with my friend Matt and his new “lady friend” later on that afternoon, but I didn’t have to leave until a little after 12 so I decided to clean the apartment. There is nothing better than coming home after a long day to a clean place, so I did a top to bottom (mom I even did the shower and base boards by hand!!)
We hiked the same trail that I did here, and it was a beautiful day. It was totally packed but I didn’t really care since I was just having a great time being outside in the warm sun. I am glad that the lady friend came as well because I had some opinions of her based off stories I had heard, but when I actually hung out with her she was really cool. I’m happy for him, it is about time he found a cool chick to be with!
After the hike I decided that my poor feet had been abused enough, so I went to get a pedicure at my new favorite place, Fancy Nails & Spa . They were so cheap and if you pay cash 5 times you get a free OPI polish, and if you have ever seen my polish collection you would know I’m obsessed with OPI. I chose I lighter pink color after a long debate between florescent pink and florescent coral because it would match everything I wore. I forgot to look at the name though…
When my toes were dry I went to Market Basket to shop for the week. THAT PLACE IS CRAZY!! But it was right there and the prices were so good I couldn’t resist. I got a full fridge of food for less than $90. I couldn’t believe it.
Back at the apartment after the groceries were unpacked and I threw some laundry in and then finished my book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? By Mindy Kaling.
I loved this book, I can’t say enough how fantastic Mindy is as a writer. She reminds me of one of my favorite authors Jen Lancaster, only the PG format. It is a very quick read because it is quick stories about her time growing up as well as working on The Office and being in Hollywood. I also, wrongly of course, thought by the end of it that we were best friends. She went to Dartmouth and I went to high school in the same town, so obviously we probably crossed paths when I was a senior and she was a freshman or sophomore at The Gap (the only place to buy clothes in the area).
Yes that previous notion is insane, it’s like all the people in Boston who claim to have known, Mark Wahlberg, Ben Affleck etc. The point I’m making though is the way she is so candid about her life makes you feel like you have known her since she was in high school and you were her friend. She has a sarcastic tone when she is making fun of herself that made me laugh a lot, especially when describing how her funeral should go.
This is a great read but caution it won’t last you long, I managed to read it in less than a week even with the mega busy week I had. I won’t get into too many details though because Krisha, I think you would really like this book if you haven’t already read it!
What book should I read next?
I tried to get back into the Game of Thrones books, I’m just not feeling them though. I need another great read so any suggestions would be great!
