Well that was by far one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time! It started with a beautiful drive up to Maine and lead into a fantastic weekend. There is something about Maine that just relaxes me, I don’t know what it is but when I cross Piscataqua River bridge I just have a huge sigh of relief. It can probably be attributed to the one week every summer I spend on Cliff Island with my family, it is so peaceful and so relaxing. This weekend wasn’t a peaceful and relaxing weekend though, as the main reason for the trip was to go up for Parrot Head festival, but it is almost impossible not to relax and just be happy with the gorgeous sunsets along the side of the road starting off your weekend.
The house we rented for the weekend was very spacious and cute, although there was a strange obsession with frogs which was semi odd.
I didn’t get any other pictures of the house but I’m sure it is beautiful in the summer as it sits right on the lake with fantastic views out of the bedrooms. Saturday started off on the mountain bright and early, and I had packed for spring skiing but at the last moment decided to throw some cold weather items in just in case it wasn’t as warm as predicted, which turned out to be a great idea as it was as cold as winter skiing has been. I guess mother nature didn’t get the memo that is it April now. Still the conditions were pretty decent on most trails and the sky made for some great photos on the top of the mountain.
After a full day skiing on Saturday our group headed over to the Parrot Head Festival, which was a little smaller than I expected but very fun. The Bud Light presence was fantastic though and the people watching was even better. It got me very excited for the Jimmy Buffett concert this year and summer in general.
On our way back to the house we stopped at Pat’s Pizza to grab take out and I got the Pesto Pasta, unfortunately I didn’t get a picture since my phone was dead but it was probably the best pasta I’ve had in awhile. If you are even in the Sunday River area I would recommend going to this place.
Sunday was another bright and early day as we cleaned up the house and then headed back to the mountain. It was cold again and I was tired from a long two days so I only skied half the day and then headed back to Boston. The kitty was very happy to have his mom home even if I passed out ten minutes into the Game of Thrones. Looks like I will have to watch it tonight while I clean up the apartment.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!
What is something that completely relaxes you?
For me it is being in Maine, specifically on Cliff Island. The less cell phone reception the better in my opinion.
